Requirements:
Step 1: Pick a human impact topic from the list.
Step 2: Research your topic, starting with the page number of your Living Earth textbook. Look for connections to other topics learned over the year. Research possible solutions to the human impact.  Use the Campo library databases (see below) for your research.
Include parts A and B below.
  • A. Go to Google Classroom and open your PSA google presentation template. Summarize what you learned from your research on slide #1 of  the template. You must answer ONE of these key questions below:
    • How is your topic a selective pressure to a certain population? Does natural selection come into play here?
    • How is your topic a threat to biodiversity?
    • How does your topic affect the carbon cycle?
    • What are the long term effects of your topic? (on the geologic timescale)
    • How have organisms responded to your topic on a genetic level (allele frequencies, gene pools, genotypes, mutations, etc.)?
  • B. Research possible solutions to the negative human impacts.
    • Optional: How has the pandemic and worldwide lockdown affected your topic? (positive, negative, no effect) If there have been positive effects, how could we continue them after the pandemic?
    • On your last slide cite the sources you used in MLA format. Make sure to use reliable sources only! Use NoodleTools.com to gather/format all citations.  Email Ms. Morgan for assistance with this :)
Step 3: Create your own PSA about how to affect positive environmental change PSA - with one fact or statistic
Bold, colorful, appropriate visuals
Is short and includes at least ONE FACT
Goal is to change attitudes or behavior
Asks the audience to make REALISTIC action steps

Step 4: You will read and respond to your classmate’s PSA using a google classroom discussion board. Be prepared to make thoughtful observations and ask and answer questions.

Online Discussion Guidelines: After viewing at least 3 different PSA’s created by your classmates. Write  ONE initial response or question (by Wednesday 5/27) about what you learned on the discussion board.
