Intellectual Property is something, or an idea, that belongs to someone else!
This refers to ideas found in books, movies, songs, clothing designs, etc.  You need to either ask for permission to use the idea, or at the very least cite your source!

The rapidly changing world of information raises many copyright issues. To find out the latest laws and regulations visit

Fair Use Guidelines, established in the 1976 Copyright Act, should always be considered.

The Fair Use Guidelines are listed below:
  1. the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
  2.  the nature of the copyrighted work;
  3. the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as whole; and
  4. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
